Gala Dinner Celebrations For Dignitaries And TAFAWOQ Graduates
On 10 December 2012, a memorable gala dinner was held at the St. Regis Hotel in Doha to mark the progress already made in delivering TAFAWOQ courses to industry professionals. In the presence of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of QP and H.E. Dr. Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, President of HBKU and Vice President of Education at Qatar Foundation, a total of 95 project professionals celebrated the completion of learning programmes provided by the Project Management Centre of Excellence.
Recent graduates of the courses were delighted to find themselves receiving their certificates from such distinguished guests and were thrilled to be photographed with H.E. Minister Al-Sada.
Graduates from previous course were also recognised during the evening and stood to receive a round of applause and there was an overwhelming sense of pride in bringing together the foundation of a project management cadre in Qatar.
In a key note address Dick Wynberg, Head of Shell Project Academy and three of the course participants stressed the importance of managing your own competency development as if your are managing a project, with clear objectives and a roadmap how to get there.
Wael Sawan, Managing Director and Chairman of Qatar Shell Companies, delivered a speech praising the achievements of the graduates and thanking QP and the Joint Steering Committee for their unwavering support. He said, “I would like to begin by expressing my deepest gratitude to Qatar Petroleum and specifically to His Excellency Dr. Al Sada for his continuous support, which has played a crucial role in the launch of this development partnership TAFAWOQ.”
Mr. Sawan congratulated the participants and encouraged them to further build their competencies in project management. “I urge you to continue to network and exchange knowledge in order to deliver Qatar’s extraordinary capital investment programme,” he said.
H.E. Minister Al Sada also delivered his congratulations and said, “We have great expectations for all of you here today. You now belong to this newly formed Project Management Community, a community which will support you in your journey.” He also congratulated Shell for their contribution to this initiative and encouraged them to continue the outstanding work they are doing in supporting the development of the State of Qatar.
