TAFAWOQ graduates 233 from project management excellence centre
Doha, 30 November 2017: TAFAWOQ, Qatar Shell’s world-class project management centre of excellence, recently celebrated the conclusion of its fall courses. Approximately 233 project professionals successfully completed the programme, including 104 Qataris, with participants coming from some of Qatar’s leading companies.
TAFAWOQ, which is the Arabic for ‘excellence’, is a partnership between Qatar Shell, Qatar Petroleum Qatar University and Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU). The program helps local professionals develop the project management competencies they need to help successfully deliver Qatar’s capital investment projects, in support of the Qatar National Vision 2030. TAFAWOQ is a fully accredited Association for Project Management (APM) training provider.
The courses included Managing Opportunity and Project Risk, Managing Project Controls, Essentials of Project Management, Applying Project Controls, Effective Project Contracting and Contributing to Projects.
Bader Al-Jaidah, Director of TAFAWOQ, said, “Qatar has established itself as a global leader in capital investment projects to help diversify and strengthen the economy. Qatar Shell, as the largest international investor in Qatar, is proud to support these efforts by developing project management capabilities in the professionals taking on these challenges.”
Among the participants were representatives from Qatar Petroleum, Astad, Qatar Gas, Oryx GTL and Qatar Shell.
Among the trainers leading the TAFAWOQ programme were John Algar of the Cranfield University School of Management; Sally Jabaley, president of Jabaley Consulting LLC; and Harvey Maylor, senior fellow in management practice at the University of Oxford-Said Business School.
Since its inception in 2012, TAFAWOQ has graduated more than 904 professional students.
TAFAWOQ courses include virtual learning, work-based activities and face-to-face training based on the internationally recognised and accredited Shell Project Academy “Pentagon model” ensuring industry professionals receive both executive education and critically also ongoing competence development support.
