We concluded the Opportunity Framing Workshop on 30th April 2019, the latest in the ongoing series of workshops delivered by TAFAWOQ within the framework of our partnership with Qatar Petroleum.
This 5-day workshop contributed to developing a common understanding of the project premise for QP’s phased-approach program to optimize and upgrade the Mesaieed Refinery to meet Euro V fuel specifications, and to ensure all associated facilities are adequate to meet capacity, reliability, and safety requirements.
40 QP staff gathered together under the guidance of Subject Matter Expert Paul Mak from Shell, to bring dialogue, ideas and best practices on the table.
It was an opportunity to drive alignment and clarity on the project rationale, timeline, strategic fit, value drivers, critical success factors, opportunities, and threats among other issues.
Simply put, this learning event answered three main questions: where are we now, where do we want to be, and how are we going to get there?
Clear answers to these questions laid the foundations for subsequent design, engineering, and execution activities to ensure successful project management – the main objective of the TAFAWOQ program and this workshop.
At Qatar Shell, we are keen to share our relevant skills and expertise in managing large scale projects with our partners, particularly Qatar Petroleum, as demonstrated through the successful development of the world’s largest gas to liquids plant, Pearl GTL.
